Prime Video is Bringing Aussies All The Scares This Season – As the spooky season approaches, new research from Prime Video has revealed what’s getting Aussies into the spirit of fright.
October is here, and it’s time to embrace the eerie, the creepy, and the downright terrifying. This Halloween, Prime Video is the one stop entertainment destination of spine-chilling content for any thrillseeker.
Popular Classics and Genres
When we surveyed locals about their top three scary genres, the results were clear: psychological horrors (57%) action horrors (54%) and supernatural horrors (46%) leading the way. See below for top picks across the Prime Video hub that are sure to send shivers down your spine.
And for those seeking all-time classics, the top four favourite scary movies for respondents include The Exorcist, Silence of the Lambs, Scream and Saw all available to rent, buy, or watch with a Prime Video subscription.
But if that’s all sounding too scary to watch with the little ones, try family-friendly flicks like Goosebumps, The Addams Family or Roald Dahl’s The Witches all available to rent or buy.
Getting in the Mood
Globally, nearly 3 in 5 viewers (59%) are likely to choose a scary movie or show over other genres around Halloween. In Australia, 48% of those surveyed enjoy scary content for the adrenaline rush, while 29% watch to scare themselves, and 23% are simply getting into the spooky spirit.
Need more ideas to get into the Halloween mood? Consider picking up a giant furry spider to terrify your neighbours, or a skeleton emerging from the grave for your garden.
And for those cosy movie nights, 44% of respondents prefer to snuggle up with a pet or a friend to watch their favourite scary flick, with this number rising to 51% among Aussie women who don’t want to watch alone. Unless of course…your pooch is dressed as a deadly slasher doll or Count Dracula—browse the best selling dog costumes here, all available from Amazon now.
Whether you’re in the mood for a heart-pounding thriller, a laugh-out-loud horror comedy, or a timeless classic, Prime Video is your one-stop entertainment destination to satisfy all your scary season cravings and say “boo” to those Sunday Scaries.
So, dim the lights, grab your favourite snacks, and prepare for a marathon of Halloween films and shows, all streaming on Prime Video.
