Masterplan trailer: Stanley Tucci plots a family heist on Prime Video – Stanley Tucci assembles an unlikely family crew to steal the Mona Lisa in the official trailer for Prime Video’s new original movie Masterplan.

The French-Italian film also stars The White Lotus breakout Simona Tabasco and Bastion 36 actor Victor Belmondo. It will stream exclusively on Prime Video in Australia and more than 240 countries and territories from 16 October 2026.

For Prime Video, Masterplan pairs recognisable international talent with a European production designed for a worldwide audience. Its mixture of an elaborate art theft, family comedy and action gives the film a broader hook than a conventional crime thriller.

Stanley Tucci leads a Mona Lisa master plan

Tucci plays a legendary thief who sets his sights on one of the world’s most famous works of art: Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.

To execute the plan, he recruits two young strangers with very different skills. Chiara, played by Tabasco, is a sharp Italian cybercrime expert. Jay, played by Belmondo, is a confident French explosives specialist.

The assignment takes an unexpected turn when their mysterious recruiter reveals that Chiara and Jay are long-lost siblings. He then adds another surprise: he is their father.

Thrown into a reunion none of them requested, the newly connected family must learn to trust one another while preparing what Prime Video describes as the heist of the century. The trailer suggests that cooperation will be almost as difficult as breaking into the target.

A French-Italian Prime Original filmed across Europe

Masterplan was filmed across multiple locations in France and Italy. Although it is a French-Italian production, the movie was shot in English for its global Prime Video release.

Tucci brings a long list of film credits to the central role, including The Devil Wears Prada, The Lovely Bones and The Hunger Games. He earned an Academy Award nomination for his performance in The Lovely Bones.

Tabasco reached an international audience through the second season of The White Lotus. Belmondo’s recent credits include the French action thriller Bastion 36.

Reacher director Thomas Vincent behind Masterplan

Thomas Vincent directs Masterplan. His television credits include Reacher, Bodyguard and Versailles.

Vincent also co-wrote the screenplay with BAFTA-winning screenwriter David Wolstencroft, the creator of Spooks and writer of The Escape Artist.

The story is credited to Giacomo Durzi, Alessandro Fabbri, Alberto Vignati, Wolstencroft and Vincent.

Gaumont and Amazon MGM Studios co-produced the film. Gaumont’s catalogue spans more than 1,600 films, series and animated works, while the company maintains production operations in Paris, Los Angeles, Berlin, Cologne and Rome.

When to watch Masterplan on Prime Video

Masterplan will be available exclusively on Prime Video from Friday, 16 October 2026. The release will extend to more than 240 countries and territories.

The official trailer and poster offer the first substantial look at Tucci’s experienced thief, the two specialists he recruits and the uneasy family relationship at the centre of their plan.
