Netflix announces My Brilliant Career trailer and August premiere date – Netflix has released the official trailer, key art and images for new Australian series My Brilliant Career, which launches globally on August 13.
Philippa Northeast stars as Sybylla, a fiercely modern young woman with one ambition: to be a writer, even as her family pushes her toward marriage.
The new adaptation gives Netflix another locally filmed Australian drama for its 2026 slate. The series was filmed in Adelaide, South Australia, and brings Miles Franklin’s classic story to a new streaming audience.
About My Brilliant Career
In My Brilliant Career, Sybylla breaks the conventions of 1900 Australia as she chases a story that could write her way to independence. However, her path becomes more complicated when she falls in love.
The series asks whether Sybylla will marry or risk everything for a creative life.
