Inspired by a publishing phenomenon
First published in the 1930s, Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House books have become one of the most successful children’s literary franchises of all time.
The novels have sold more than 73 million copies worldwide, reaching readers in more than 100 countries and being translated into at least 27 languages.
The stories previously found enormous success on television through the classic 1974 series, which continues to attract audiences decades after its original run.
According to Nielsen, viewers streamed an extraordinary 13.25 billion minutes of the original series during 2024 alone.
An experienced creative team behind the reboot
The Netflix adaptation is led by showrunner and executive producer Rebecca Sonnenshine, whose previous credits include The Boys, The Vampire Diaries and Archive 81.
The directing team includes Sarah Adina Smith, Julie Anne Robinson, Kat Candler, Erica Tremblay and Sydney Freeland.
