MUBI acquires Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall concert film – MUBI has secured global rights outside North America to Paul Thomas Anderson’s new concert film.
Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall captures the Geese frontman performing alone on the famous New York stage. Anderson shot the sold-out December 2025 concert on 35mm and 16mm film.
The acquisition gives MUBI a distinctive music title from one of modern cinema’s best-known directors. It also turns an acclaimed one-night performance into a global streaming event for audiences outside North America.
A solo performance on film
Winter performs at a Steinway grand piano throughout the 75-minute film. The stripped-back setting puts his songs, voice and stage presence at the centre of the experience.
Ariel Rechtshaid recorded and produced the sound. Meanwhile, Benny Safdie served as a co-producer and camera operator. Sara Murphy, Erica Frauman and Maggie Ambrose are also producers.
The film will have its world premiere in the Spotlight section of the 64th New York Film Festival on 1 October 2026. It will then make its UK premiere at the 70th BFI London Film Festival.
When will it stream on MUBI?
MUBI plans to release Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall in early 2027. Further release details will be announced later.
Janus Films and The Criterion Collection will handle the film in North America. In addition, a live album from the Carnegie Hall performance will arrive on 9 October through Partisan Records and Play It Again Sam.
Winter is best known as the frontman of Geese, although his solo work has also earned a devoted audience. This film now brings that work to viewers in a carefully photographed cinema presentation.
