HBO Max and Australia Post bring Harry Potter Owl Post Experience to Sydney – HBO Max is partnering with Australia Post to transform Sydney GPO into a Harry Potter-themed Owl Post Experience for Back to Hogwarts weekend.
The activation will take over Australia Post’s Sydney GPO at 1 Martin Place across Saturday 29 August and Sunday 30 August 2026, giving fans the chance to write and send letters using quills and wax seals inspired by the Wizarding World.
For HBO Max, the partnership keeps the Harry Potter franchise front and centre in Australia ahead of the HBO Original series Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, while Australia Post is using the event to celebrate the tradition of letter writing in a family-friendly, fan-focused setting.
Sydney GPO activation
The Harry Potter Owl Post Experience will be open at Australia Post – Sydney GPO, 1 Martin Pl, Sydney, from 11am to 5pm on both Saturday 29 August and Sunday 30 August.
Visitors will be able to compose letters with themed stationery, quills and wax seals, then send them through Australia Post. A “letter swarm” installation will also be available for photos, taking inspiration from the memorable arrival of Harry’s Hogwarts letters.
Fans who cannot make it to Sydney will also be able to use a downloadable letter-writing template through Australia Post’s consumer website.
Back to Hogwarts
The event forms part of the annual Back to Hogwarts celebration, which is marked globally by Harry Potter fans on 1 September.
Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ says the partnership is designed to bring the magic of receiving a Hogwarts letter to life for Australian fans. Australia Post says the collaboration reflects the joy of connection and the enduring place of letter writing.
The activation comes as Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone returns to Australian cinemas for a 25th anniversary season, with limited screenings to include additional behind-the-scenes footage.
Harry Potter on HBO Max
The HBO Original series Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is due to debut this Christmas and will stream exclusively on HBO Max.
