Lanterns
Lanterns premieres Monday, 17 August, only on HBO Max. Episodes drop weekly, same day as the US, across an eight-episode season.
The series follows new recruit John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre, and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler. The two intergalactic cops are drawn into a dark Earth-based mystery while investigating a murder in the American heartland.
Films in August
The Housemaid arrives Saturday, 1 August. The thriller follows a struggling woman who starts over as a housemaid for an affluent couple, only to enter a mansion of secrets, manipulation and psychological games.
The Drama streams Saturday, 8 August. Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Alana Haim, Mamoudou Athie and Hailey Benton Gates star in the story of an engaged couple whose wedding week is thrown into chaos.
Plainclothes arrives Saturday, 15 August. Written and directed by Carmen Emmi, the film stars Tom Blyth, Russell Tovey and Maria Dizzia.
Documentaries, factual and Shark Week
Monsters of God debuts Friday, 7 August. The HBO Original documentary series comes from director Eric Goode and explores the world of exotic animal smuggling, reptile collectors and the authorities trying to stop a criminal enterprise built on obsession.
Stalked arrives Thursday, 13 August. The three-part series shares the experiences of women from Aotearoa New Zealand affected by stalking, while examining warning signs, escalation and systemic failures.
Discovery’s Shark Week 2026 begins Sunday, 16 August, with episodes dropping daily. The event includes shark investigations, stunts, technology-led specials and high-stakes encounters.
Comedy, TLC and Adult Swim
Double Lives of Suburban Wives starts Thursday, 27 August. The TLC series follows six couples in the St. Louis area whose suburban routines coexist with private and unconventional second lives.
The Robot Chicken Adult Swim Special lands Sunday, 30 August, same day as the US. The special marks 25 years of Adult Swim with characters from Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Metalocalypse, The Venture Bros., Black Jesus and more.
