Foxtel and Netflix extend Australian partnership – Foxtel and Netflix have renewed their long-standing partnership in a multi-year agreement.
Under the renewed deal, Platinum Plus Foxtel iQ customers will continue to receive Netflix as part of their Foxtel subscription. Netflix content will also remain integrated through the Foxtel iQ experience.
For Australian viewers, the extension keeps one of Foxtel’s key aggregation offers in place. It also reinforces Foxtel’s push to keep subscription television, streaming apps, sport and local productions together in one interface.
Netflix Remains Part Of Foxtel iQ
Foxtel Group Executive Director, Content and Commercial Partnerships Stephanie Quinn said Netflix remained one of the world’s leading streaming services.
She also described Netflix as a key strategic partner as DAZN continues to aggregate entertainment brands for Australian audiences.
Netflix was the foundation app included on Foxtel’s iQ platform when the company changed the Foxtel experience in 2019. Since then, Foxtel said customer engagement with Netflix has remained strong.
As a result, Foxtel iQ customers can continue to access Netflix favourites including Stranger Things, Bridgerton and Squid Game alongside Foxtel titles.
Those Foxtel titles include Colin From Accounts, The Five Star Weekend and The Other Bennet Sister.
Foxtel Aggregation Strategy Continues
Foxtel Managing Director Steve O’Connor said the extension builds on DAZN and Netflix’s shared ambition to give customers value, choice and convenience.
In addition, Foxtel said iQ subscribers can access a broad range of apps through the platform. The list includes Prime Video, Disney+, YouTube, ABC iview, SBS On Demand, 9Now, 10, ABC Kids, F1 TV, Paramount+, 7plus, Stan, DocPlay, Apple TV and HBO Max.
Access depends on device, pack and subscription requirements.
Netflix Director, Business Development – Rest of Asia, Allen Pan said the partnership had always been about making it easier for Australians to find local and international films and television shows in one place.
Existing Foxtel customers can visit the public Foxtel website to upgrade their plan and include Netflix. Netflix is available in Australia at netflix.com/au.
