Toy Story 5 sets Disney+ streaming date for September – Toy Story 5 will stream exclusively on Disney+ from 23 September 2026, bringing Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the rest of the gang into Australian homes after the film’s global cinema run.
The Disney and Pixar sequel arrives on the platform with a new trailer and a new music video for the piano version of Taylor Swift’s original song, I Knew It, I Knew You.
For Disney+, the release gives the streamer a major family title heading into the September school-holiday window, while also extending one of Pixar’s most recognisable franchises into a story built around the changing way children play.
Toy meets tech
In Toy Story 5, the toys face a new challenge when Bonnie meets Lilypad, a tablet device with its own disruptive ideas about what is best for her.
The film reunites Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the wider Toy Story ensemble, while introducing a new generation of characters to the long-running Disney and Pixar franchise.
Disney says the feature has grossed more than $1.1 billion worldwide since its June theatrical debut. The film has also been certified fresh and verified hot by Rotten Tomatoes and received an A CinemaScore.
Taylor Swift music video released
The streaming announcement also comes with a new music video for the piano version of I Knew It, I Knew You, featuring footage from Toy Story 5.
The song is performed by Taylor Swift and written and produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff. The soundtrack also includes a new score by Randy Newman, who returns for his fifth Toy Story feature.
The Toy Story 5 original soundtrack will be available on vinyl and CD from Friday 25 September 2026.

Toy Story 5 is directed by Andrew Stanton, co-directed by Kenna Harris, produced by Lindsey Collins and Jessica Choi, and written by Stanton and Harris from a story by Stanton. The film is rated PG.
Disney says the Toy Story franchise is the most-watched film franchise on Disney+, with more than two billion hours streamed globally.
