The Shards trailer released before Disney+ premiere – Disney+ has unveiled the official trailer for FX’s The Shards, the new drama series from executive producer Ryan Murphy.
Based on the acclaimed bestselling novel by Bret Easton Ellis, the series premieres with its first two episodes on Thursday, 6 August, exclusively on Disney+ in Australia.
Set in 1980s Los Angeles, The Shards follows a group of privileged high school seniors at an elite prep school. Their world of beauty, parties and excess begins to fracture as identity, sex, jealousy and obsession collide with something far more dangerous.

At the centre of the story is Bret, played by Igby Rigney. Bret is an aspiring writer and observant teenager whose reality starts to unravel after the arrival of mysterious new student Robert Mallory, played by Homer Gere.
Robert transfers in just before senior year. At the same time, Los Angeles is gripped by fear as The Trawler, a serial killer targeting teenagers, casts a darker shadow over the city.

Bret’s social circle includes Susan Reynolds, played by Kaia Gerber, Debbie Schaffer, played by Hayes Warner, and Thom Wright, played by Graham Campbell.
The glamorous group is drawn into a life of wealth and excess, while the adult world around them brings its own dark edge. The cast also includes Wes Bentley as Terry Schaffer, Evan Rachel Wood as Liz Schaffer and Jordan Roth as Steven Reinhardt.

The series brings together two provocative American storytellers, with Murphy and Ellis among the executive producers.
The executive producer team also includes Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, Nissa Diederich, Tanase Popa, Nick Hall, Michael Uppendahl, Max Winkler, Kathleen McCaffrey and Brian Young.
The Shards is produced by 20th Television.
