Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi Sets Disney+ Premiere Date – Lucasfilm and Production I.G will expand the world of Star Wars anime this August with a new limited series.
The eight-episode anime series Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi will stream from August 5, 2026 on Disney+.
The trailer and key art are now available for the new series, which continues the story introduced in the acclaimed Star Wars: Visions shorts The Ninth Jedi and The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope.
A new chapter for Star Wars: Visions
The series forms part of the new Star Wars: Visions Presents banner. The banner will allow Lucasfilm to tell longer-form stories within the Star Wars: Visions universe.
Supervising director Kenji Kamiyama, director Shunsuke Tada and producer Hitoshi Ito debuted the trailer and teaser poster during a special panel at Anime Expo 2026. The event took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Kara’s journey continues
Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi picks up not long after the events of the earlier shorts.
In the new series, Lah Kara continues her Jedi training under Margrave Juro. However, her path soon grows far more dangerous.
Kara then begins an epic journey of self-discovery. Alongside Juro’s small fellowship of Jedi-in-training, she sets out on a quest to save her father.
The story brings together legacy, family and the future of the Jedi. As a result, the series looks set to build on the visual style and emotional scope that made The Ninth Jedi one of the standout chapters of Star Wars: Visions.
Creative team and voice cast
The series is directed by Shunsuke Tada and written by Mitsuyasu Sakai. Kenji Kamiyama serves as supervising director.
Executive producers include James Waugh, Jacqui Lopez, Josh Rimes, Justin Leach and Mitsuhisa Ishikawa. Hitoshi Ito and Kanako Shirasaki produce the series, with Caroline Keller as co-producer.
The returning English dub cast includes Kimiko Glenn as Lah Kara, Andrew Kishino as Juro, Masi Oka as Ethan, Patrick Seitz as Homen, JP Karliak as Gramps and Simu Liu as Lah Zhima. Neil Kaplan also returns as The Narrator.
New English voice talent includes Feodor Chin as Gennoh, Young Mazino as Nawaam, Chase Sui Wonders as Tafflah and Keone Young as Kwana.
The returning original language cast includes Chinatsu Akasaki as Lah Kara, Tetsuo Kanao as Juro, Hiromu Mineta as Ethan, Hinata Tadokoro as Homen, Cho as Gramps and Shinichiro Miki as Lah Zhima. Akio Otsuka also returns as The Narrator.
