Marvel’s New York Comic Con reveals VisionQuest, Daredevil and Disney+ plans – Marvel Television and Marvel Animation used New York Comic Con to set out a busy Disney+ slate, from next week’s VisionQuest debut to a newly announced live-action series, Zodiac, in 2028. The panel also brought the Defenders cast together and gave attendees the first episode of VisionQuest before its streaming launch.
For Australian Disney+ viewers, the nearest dates are 14 October 2026 for VisionQuest and 13 January 2027 for season two of Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man. Marvel also outlined new Marvel Zombies specials for the next three Halloweens, while the third and final season of Daredevil: Born Again is due in 2027.
The distinction between a premiere announcement and a convention-exclusive preview matters here. Marvel screened footage and a full VisionQuest episode for the New York audience, but this announcement does not provide those screenings as public video for viewers at home. The confirmed Disney+ release dates, rather than the in-room footage, are the immediate takeaway for Australian audiences.
VisionQuest premieres on Disney+ on 14 October
Paul Bettany and James Spader joined showrunner Terry Matalas and co-stars Ruaridh Mollica and Emily Hampshire for the VisionQuest discussion. After an exclusive preview, the cast surprised the crowd with a screening of the first episode. Audience members received a mini-poster as they left the convention centre.
In the series, Vision has escaped people who wanted to weaponise him and is keeping out of sight. To find a new purpose, he turns to AI personas within his programming: F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S. and Ultron. A bounty on Vision’s head ends that quiet existence and sends him on the run with Thomas Shepherd, a boy who may be his son reincarnated. The story asks Vision to resist Ultron’s influence while working out who his young companion really is.
The cast also includes Todd Stashwick, T’Nia Miller, Lauren Morais, Orla Brady, Diane Morgan, Polly Frame, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and James D’Arcy. Christopher J. Byrne, Gandja Monteiro, Vincenzo Natali and Matalas direct episodes. Matalas created the television series based on Marvel Comics and is among its writers with Cindy Appel, Christopher Monfette, Nicole Falsetti and Matthew Okumura.
Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Bettany, Mary Livanos, Matalas, Jac Schaeffer and Byrne are executive producers; Roopesh Parekh produces. These credits underline how much of Marvel’s established television creative team is involved in the new series.

Daredevil: Born Again brings the Defenders back together
Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter and Finn Jones appeared together on stage for a Defenders reunion and an exclusive look at Daredevil: Born Again season three. Marvel describes it as the show’s final season and says it will stream on Disney+ in 2027. It has not supplied an exact date in this announcement.
The appearance is noteworthy for bringing the three performers together in public around the series, but the footage shown at the panel was for attendees. Australian viewers should not mistake the convention screening for a newly released trailer.
Spider-Man returns in January; X-Men ’97 gets an early look
Showrunner Jeff Trammell announced that the second season of Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man will premiere on Disney+ on 13 January 2027. Marvel unveiled a season-two poster and screened an exclusive preview for the panel audience. The date is the clearest new viewing information for fans of Marvel Animation’s Spider-Man series.
Winderbaum also gave the more than 3,000 fans in attendance an early look at season three of X-Men ’97. However, Marvel did not announce a Disney+ premiere date for that season or release the preview publicly as part of this announcement.

Zodiac and three Marvel Zombies specials extend the slate
Marvel Television’s newly announced live-action series Zodiac is currently casting. Production is planned for 2027, with a Disney+ release slated for 2028. No cast list or exact streaming date accompanied the announcement, so those details remain to come.
Meanwhile, Marvel Zombies has been renewed for three further two-part special events. Marvel Zombies: Winter Soldier is planned for Halloween 2027, Marvel Zombies: Fist of Khonshu for Halloween 2028 and Marvel Zombies: The Last Guardian for Halloween 2029. Marvel has given a seasonal release window for each rather than a specific day or Australian release time.
Head of Marvel Television, Animation and Comics Brad Winderbaum opened the New York panel with Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Stephen Wacker before moving through the television announcements. The range of dates shows that the presentation was not only a promotion for this month’s VisionQuest: it mapped out Marvel-branded Disney+ releases across several years. The session was followed by a Marvel reception at the city’s Yacht Club.
