Disney+ unveils first look at thriller series Furious ahead of July premiere – Disney+ has released the first-look images for its upcoming original drama series Furious, a tense new thriller that explores the increasingly blurred line between justice and obsession.
The Hulu Original series will premiere in Australia on Disney+ on Monday, 27 July, launching with three episodes before shifting to a weekly release schedule.
A dangerous game of cat and mouse
Created by New Girl creator Elizabeth Meriwether, Furious centres on FBI agent Alice Black, played by Emmy Rossum, as she pursues a mysterious female serial killer.
As the investigation intensifies, both women find themselves on parallel journeys towards their own versions of justice. But as their lives become increasingly intertwined, the distinction between hero and villain begins to unravel.
The psychological drama promises a gripping exploration of morality, power and the choices people make when pushed to their limits.
Emmy Rossum leads the cast
Rossum headlines the series as Alice Black, bringing audiences back to television in a role far removed from her acclaimed performances in Shameless and The Crowded Room.
Joining her are Lola Petticrew, Scoot McNairy, Quincy Tyler Bernstine and Jake Lacy.
With a cast boasting experience across prestige dramas and award-winning productions, Furious is shaping up to be one of Disney+’s most anticipated new releases of the year.
From the creator of New Girl
Elizabeth Meriwether serves as creator, writer and executive producer on the series.
Rossum also executive produces through Composition 8, alongside Ronald Bass, Matt Olmstead and Sam Hoffman.
Brian Kirk executive produces and directs the opening two episodes.
The series is produced by 20th Television and Searchlight Television.
A new thriller to add to the watchlist
The first-look images hint at a dark and atmospheric crime drama, teasing the emotional and psychological stakes awaiting viewers when the series debuts later this month.
For fans of character-driven thrillers with morally complex protagonists, Furious may prove to be one of the standout streaming offerings of the winter season.
Furious premieres Monday, 27 July on Disney+, with the first three episodes available at launch, followed by new episodes weekly.
