Mint arrives on BritBox Australia with forbidden love and rival crime families – BritBox Australia is launching the new crime drama Mint exclusively from 17 July 2026.
The eight-part series has already drawn attention for its striking visual style. The Guardian has described it as “the most outrageously beautiful TV show since Twin Peaks”.
Mint is a reimagined Romeo and Juliet story told through two rival gangs. At the centre is Shannon, played by Emma Laird, the daughter of a powerful crime family.
Her life changes when she becomes infatuated with someone from the opposing side. What begins as forbidden romance soon becomes a story about loyalty, betrayal and impossible choices.
Crime, romance and impossible choices
BritBox says the series places love and loyalty inside a volatile crime underworld. As both families are pulled into conflict, Shannon must decide what she is willing to risk.
The release positions Mint as a distinctive territory premiere for Australian viewers. It combines family tension, romance and crime drama with a heightened sense of style.
Laird is joined by Benjamin Coyle-Larner, Laura Fraser, Sam Riley, Lindsay Duncan and Neil Leiper.
Fraser’s screen credits include Breaking Bad, A Knight’s Tale and Vanilla Sky. Riley has appeared in Maleficent, Control and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
Duncan’s credits include Birdman, About Time and Gifted. Leiper has appeared in The Angels’ Share, Passing Place and The Old Oak.
Mint Season 1 features eight 30-minute episodes. It streams new and exclusively on BritBox Australia from 17 July 2026.
