Slow Horses renewed for season eight on Apple TV – Apple TV has renewed its Emmy and BAFTA-winning spy drama Slow Horses for an eighth season. Sir Gary Oldman is set to return as the irascible Jackson Lamb.
Slow Horses season eight will adapt Clown Town, the ninth novel in Mick Herron’s CWA Gold Dagger-winning Slough House series. Importantly, the renewal extends one of Apple TV’s most durable drama franchises. Also, season six arrives on 16 September.
A new Slough House confrontation
Season eight finds Lamb and MI5 chief Diana Taverner in their most explosive confrontation yet. Meanwhile, a botched attempt to blackmail the Park puts Taverner on the offensive. As a result, Lamb must uncover one of MI5’s darkest secrets.
Slow Horses follows the dysfunctional intelligence agents exiled to Slough House after career-ending mistakes. Additionally, Lamb is brilliant and cantankerous. He is routinely surrounded by spies navigating the smoke and mirrors of British espionage.
Apple TV creative director Jay Hunt said the series continues to connect with audiences worldwide. Moreover, she described Lamb and his “lovable misfits” as a unique take on espionage.
Acclaim and creative team
For viewers, the first five seasons are streaming now. In addition, the series has won three Emmy Awards and five BAFTA Television Awards. Furthermore, Rotten Tomatoes ranked its fourth season as the number one series of 2024.
Finally, See-Saw Films produces Slow Horses for Apple TV. Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Douglas Urbanski, Adam Randall, Iain Canning and Emile Sherman are among the executive producers. Gail Mutrux, Billy Bowring, Helen Gregory, Mick Herron and Oldman also serve as executive producers. Ben Vanstone adapts season eight, while Randall returns to direct.
