Carême renewed for Season 2 on Apple TV – Apple TV has ordered a second season of its French-language historical drama Carême, with Benjamin Voisin returning as the chef whose ambition draws him into political espionage.

The renewal follows the series’ International Emmy Award nomination for Drama Series. Production on the new season is scheduled to begin in Paris next week.

For Australian viewers, the announcement confirms that the story will continue on the same service that carries Season 1. The first season remains available to stream in full on Apple TV.

Benjamin Voisin returns as Antonin Carême

César Award winner Benjamin Voisin will again play Antonin Carême. César nominee Jérémie Rénier and Alice Da Luz are also returning for the new season.

The drama charts Carême’s rise from poverty to culinary fame in Napoleon’s Europe. Although he dreams of becoming the world’s most celebrated chef, powerful politicians recognise that his talent gives him access to places and people beyond their reach.

They recruit him as a spy for France. That forces Carême to weigh revenge against the wealth, fame and influence now within his grasp.

International recognition for Season 1

The first season arrived globally in 2025. It later earned an International Emmy nomination and a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The production uses historic sites around Paris to build its world. Locations include the Palais des Tuileries and the châteaux of Fontainebleau, Chantilly and Compiègne.

Based on the life of the celebrity chef

Carême is based on historian and screenwriter Ian Kelly’s book Carême: Cooking for Kings: The Life of the First Celebrity Chef.

Kelly created the series with Davide Serino. Vanessa van Zuylen executive produces through VVZ Production, while Dominique Farrugia executive produces through Shine Fiction, part of Banijay France.
