Nocturne: Liev Schreiber hunts a serial killer
Nocturne is a 10-episode drama based on Lars Kepler’s internationally bestselling crime novels Lazarus and The Sandman. Liev Schreiber stars and executive produces, alongside Zazie Beetz and Stephen Graham.
Schreiber plays Jonah Lynn, an ex-soldier turned homicide detective. Tired of the tough streets of Philadelphia, he moves to a small town in western Pennsylvania for a quiet life. However, the town and his family come under attack from the diabolically cunning serial killer Jurek Walter (Graham).
Then a desperate search for Jurek’s last missing victim forces Jonah to send his surrogate daughter, FBI Agent Saga Bauer (Beetz), up against the killer. As a result, Jonah must decide how far he will go to protect all that he holds dear.
Bill Camp, Rory Culkin, Chrissy Metz, Poorna Jagannathan and Gary Carr round out the cast. John Hlavin (Shooter) developed the series for television and is showrunner. Meanwhile, BAFTA winner Rowan Joffé (Tin Star) created it for television.
The first two episodes premiere on Friday, 30 October, followed by new episodes every Friday through 25 December. TV Central previously reported when the Nocturne trailer pitted Liev Schreiber against Stephen Graham.
Dark Matter season two finale
Based on Blake Crouch’s bestselling book, Dark Matter stars Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly, with Alice Braga, Jimmi Simpson, Dayo Okeniyi, Oakes Fegley and Amanda Brugel.
Season two picks up with the Dessens settling into a quiet life in a world that finally seems safe, until the unimaginable forces them to run again. Jason’s obsession with the Box deepens, while Daniela’s growing paranoia pushes her to the brink.
In the finale, “No Quiet Life”, a high-stakes gambit leads to unintended consequences. The tenth episode premieres on Friday, 30 October.
Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars
Next, season two of the BAFTA-nominated docuseries follows 16 restaurants at pivotal moments as they navigate the Michelin Guide’s year-long calendar. Food and travel expert Jesse Burgess hosts, and Gordon Ramsay and Studio Ramsay Global executive produce.
In episode seven, “We do it MY way”, a chef battles a staffing crisis while pursuing a third Star, as a Berlin visionary seeks his second. It premieres on Friday, 30 October, with the final episode on 6 November.
Brothers
Also, Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson play fictionalised versions of themselves in the eight-episode comedy. Their friendship is thrown into chaos when Matthew’s mother, Ma Mac (Holland Taylor), lets slip that the pair might actually be brothers.
In this week’s episode, “The Interview”, Matthew’s big announcement sends shock waves as Woody finds himself caught in a lie. Episode seven is now streaming, with new episodes every Wednesday through 4 November.
Small Prophets
Meanwhile, Pearce Quigley stars as the eccentric Michael Sleep, with Sir Michael Palin as his dad Brian and Mackenzie Crook as store manager Gordon. In episode five, “Who’s Gonna Make Me Laugh?”, strange things are happening in Marvin Gardens, and they are starting to attract unwanted attention.
The fifth episode is now streaming, with new episodes every Wednesday through 4 November.
Where’s Wanda?
Finally, in season two of the German-language dark comedy, the Klatts (Heike Makatsch and Axel Stein) are back. Their daughter Wanda (Lea Drinda) is caught seemingly red-handed standing over a dead body, so they must prove her innocence.
In episode two, “Tuesday”, the Klatts dive back into amateur detective mode and investigate the owner of a nail salon. It is now streaming, with a new episode weekly through Wednesday, 9 December.
