Culture by Design returns for season two on ABC Australia and ABC iview – Culture by Design season two is now available, with host Anthony Burke exploring the creative and cultural forces shaping design across Asia.
The six-part season takes viewers through Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Indonesia and India. Along the way, Burke meets designers, makers and cultural custodians whose work is shaped by place, tradition, identity and community.
For Australian viewers, the return gives ABC iview another strong arts, culture and lifestyle title. It also keeps Burke in familiar ABC territory, after his work on Restoration Australia, Grand Designs Australia and Grand Designs Transformations.
What is Culture by Design season two about?
Across the new season, Burke visits ancient and contemporary studios, busy cities and community spaces. The series looks at how design can express heritage, solve practical problems and help communities tell their stories.
The season explores themes of adaptation, resilience, innovation, kinship, rebirth and legacy. ABC iview lists all six season-two episodes, with each episode running for around half an hour.
ABC International Head Claire M. Gorman said the series is about more than good design. She highlighted the stories, traditions and communities behind the works featured on screen.
Who hosts Culture by Design?
Culture by Design is hosted by Anthony Burke, Professor of Architecture in the Faculty of Design Architecture and Building at the University of Technology Sydney.
