Rugby League World Cup: 100 days to go – The countdown is on.
The Rugby League World Cup is now 100 days away. Seven has confirmed live, free and exclusive Australian coverage from Thursday, 15 October 2026.
Coverage runs for one month. The tournament continues until Sunday, 15 November, on Seven and 7plus Sport.
The action begins with a major opening clash between Australia and New Zealand at Allianz Stadium in Sydney. From there, fans will see a packed international schedule across the men’s, women’s and wheelchair competitions.
Seven to deliver live and free coverage
Hosted across Australia, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand, the 2026 event will bring together 26 teams. Those teams come from around the world.
The line-up includes major rugby league nations such as England, Tonga and Samoa. Seven’s coverage will feature 18 men’s matches, 15 women’s matches and 20 wheelchair matches.
As a result, the event will give viewers a broad look at the global strength of the game.
Seven host Mel McLaughlin said the tournament would bring major energy to Australian screens.
“There’s nothing quite like the energy and passion that comes with the Rugby League World Cup.”
“To have the 2026 tournament on home soil is a landmark moment for fans.”
McLaughlin said Seven would deliver wall-to-wall coverage. She also pointed to behind-the-scenes access and breaking news as it happens.
International rugby league takes centre stage
Seven Director of Sport Chris Jones said the international game has entered a new era.
“The international game has never been more competitive. This is Origin, but on a global scale,” he said.
“This is more than just a sporting tournament. It’s a celebration of rugby league’s global growth.”
Jones said Seven was thrilled to bring every moment of the event to Australians. He also said the tournament would showcase the superstars who continue to lift the international game.
Meanwhile, Seven’s Head of the tournament Lesley Tapsall said the network would deliver a viewing experience worthy of the occasion.
“All eyes will be on Seven and 7plus.”
Tapsall said Seven had built a world-class production and on-air team. Crews will work across every Australian venue. Therefore, fans can expect comprehensive coverage from the opening seconds through to the final whistle.
Seven’s expert panel and commentary team will be announced in the coming months.
