AUSSIES IN ACTION
Olympic Games Paris 2024 on Stan - Day 3 Recap
Australia’s Chris Burton won Individual Eventing Silver aboard Shadow Man.

Swimming

  • Mollie O’Callaghan set an Olympic Record to overpower Ariarne Titmus in the Women’s 200m Freestyle Final. It is the first time Australia has claimed a women’s Olympic one-two since 1996 with O’Callaghan winning her first individual Gold and her fourth overall.
  • Reigning Olympic champion Kaylee McKeown has set up an epic showdown with world record holder Regan Smith (USA) in tomorrow’s Women’s 100m Backstroke Final with just 0.02s splitting the star duo. Debutant Iona Anderson will line up next to McKeown in the final after qualifying fourth-fastest.

Equestrian

  • Chris Burton claimed the Silver medal in the Individual Eventing on Shadow Man, a horse he has only been riding for five months. Germany’s Michael Jung took out the event for the third time in the last four Games.
Rugby Sevens – Women’s
  • Australia followed up a tight 19-14 pool game victory over Ireland with a dominant 40-7 win in their quarter-final rematch. Madi Hinds was once again dominant, moving to an Olympic record 11 tries two matches still to play. Australia now face Canada at midnight (AEST) tonight for a place in the Gold medal match against New Zealand or USA.

Basketball – Women’s

  • The Opals medal campaign took a big hit with a shock loss to Nigeria. The 75-62 win was Nigeria’s first victory at the Games in two decades and leaves Australia needing to regroup ahead of their next clash with Canada. (vision)

Hockey

  • The Kookaburras made it two-from-two with a 2-1 victory over Ireland.
  • The Hockeyroos also continued a perfect start to the tournament with a 4-0 victory over Great Britain.

Beach Volleyball

  • Mark Nicolaidis & Izac Carracher were brave in a close loss to their Italian opponents, however Nicolaidis pulled off arguably the defensive play of the tournament so far – watch it here.
