The Agenda Setters Rugby League on Channel 7 “The NRL don’t know what they are doing at the moment” – Woods – More headlines

Victor Radley not charged for contact on Pat Carrigan. “The NRL don’t know what they are doing at the moment” – Aaron Woods.
CP: Victor Radley had not one charge out of the game. Victor himself was a little surprised. What’s our thoughts? This is the big one here Corey.
DR:Deemed accidental contact as far as his head connecting with Pat Carrigan’s jaw. I’ve got an issue with it. I think the onus is on the defender and certainly it is. Under the rules of the game, the onus is on the defender and he got that tackle technique wrong.
AW: So the NRL deemed it accidental. What about all the hip drops that are accidental? He leads in with the head. I’m a huge Victor Radley fan. I reckon he’s one of the best defenders in the game. We’ve seen Sean Russell come out of the line on Easter Monday for Parramatta Eels and get stepped cold and then accidentally had a clash with Hamasi Makasini which was a penalty. What I love about that instance was, Carrigan does go like that but he gets on and plays the ball. If he stayed down, Radley’s in the bin for ten. This is where the NRL frustrates me at times.
LK: What happened yesterday when the news broke, he was so surprised.
DR: They’re calling it accidental.
LK: Cogger ends up getting a week for his shot in the Manly game.
AW: Because Toluta’u Koula stayed down. He got knocked from the tackle. You look at a tackle in the Newcastle Knights game, it was all about force. How hard Kalyn Ponga was defending. I don’t think the NRL know what they’re doing at the moment. Do they? Every time we see one of these knocks, it’s a massive lottery. If the player stays on the field, there would probably be a penalty. If they come off, you know it’s going to be a sin bin. How bad the injury is going to be, that’s what the length of the time is going to be on the sideline. It is a lottery at this point.
