Laurie Daley reveals Origin Game II Blues squad without detailing starting positions
DR:, Laurie has been quite clear that he wants Mitch Moses back in this team. Now, he has been up and running. It’s the hamstring problem that robbed him of Origin I. He has done some rehab running. Now, as far as the Parramatta Reels are concerned, I’ve spoken to them. They’re more than confident in Mitch going into camp. And not only that, they’re backing him to be absolutely sweet for Wednesday week at the MCG.
So, Mitch Moses in. When do you want to see him up and running?
In the words of Laurie Daley, he needs to be humming by this Thursday.
Tuesday, he’ll know the team 100 per cent as far as the 1 through to 17 and the extended squad is concerned. Mitch Moses needs to know Thursday.
DR: The other one is Steven Crichton. He played today for the Bulldogs with his AC shoulder issue. He needed a painkilling injection at the start of the game. Crichton came out of the match and spoke of how he didn’t need a top up, an extra one at half time. He found that promising and he’s backing himself to be absolutely A-OK for the Blues as well.
AW: He’s missed a month of footy. So, it’s hard. If it was a couple of years ago, he’s got the experience now because I think he can get by. As I said, he’s at his peak of his fitness levels. It’s something that he trains hard and he prides himself on being one of the fittest in the squad. It is hard, but he prides himself on it. It happens to a lot of players. A lot of players that we probably wouldn’t even know aren’t even training all week and backing up. With Crichton getting needles, he’s probably not doing contact and training. It’s a thing that happens throughout the season.
LK: I agree with the Moses choice. I think what Woodsy said, he’s at that age where he knows his body well enough. And let’s be honest, every time he’s put that blue jersey on, he has performed at a really high level for himself.
DR: There is a level of risk, right?
LK: Definitely, definitely.
CP: And so, Ethan Strange, who was able to get his debut for New South Wales and absolutely had a wow of a game, was man of the match in my eyes. Nathan was terrific, but man of the match in my eyes. Now, finds himself in jersey 18, back to where it all started. Surely, there’s a little bit of a temptation from Loz to think, well, this guy needs to be… Like, he epitomises, again, in my eyes, what Origin is all about.
LK: Yeah, I agree with you, because I reckon they would have had lengthy discussions about it. Like, lengthy discussions. They went into that series and made the decision that Mitch was going to be their 5’8″. And he unfortunately had the hamstring. Yes, Ethan did a fantastic job.
LK: He will be the New South Wales 5’8″,
CP: Ethan goes out and does a great job, but he’s going to get his time.

Dylan Lucas tipped to make starting debut for NSW Blues in place of Haumole Olakau’atu
DR: (Dylan Lucas) He’s been on Laurie Daly’s radar for some time and certainly as this afternoon progresses guys I can tell you that he is firming for a stunning debut.
AW: Starting or?
DR: Starting debut.
AW: So he’s going to start in the back row?
DR: For the New South Wales Blues. Now that is yet to be confirmed and we may see some ducks and drakes all the way till kickoff with the Blues but certainly the mail going around Sydney was that Dylan Lucas could be set for a stunning starting debut for the Blues. Now it would come at the casualty of one of the Blues back rows being Haumole Olakau’atu or Hudson Young. The tip is it could be Olakau’atu.
