Netflix to stream first ever NFL game in Australia live from Melbourne – Netflix will stream the first ever regular season NFL game in Australia live from the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday, September 11.
The Week 1 match-up between the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams gives Australian NFL fans a rare local centrepiece on the global sporting calendar. It also strengthens Netflix’s move into live sport, with the streamer again using the NFL to reach a large international audience. TV Central follows local coverage and streaming developments in our NFL and Netflix sections.
Coverage of NFL Netflix Gameday begins at 8:30am AEST, ahead of kick-off at 10:35am AEST.
The Melbourne game will feature the 49ers against the Rams as the NFL stages its first regular season game in Australia.
Netflix said the 2026 NFL schedule on the service will continue after Melbourne with the first Thanksgiving Eve game on November 25 in the United States, a Christmas Day doubleheader, and a Week 18 regular season match-up on January 9.
Netflix will also stream NFL Honors globally during Super Bowl week.
The games will be available to Netflix subscribers in more than 200 countries and in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and German.
NBC Sports will produce the games, pre-game and post-game shows, with EverWonder Studio serving as executive producer for Netflix.
