A farewell to Phillip Island
Meanwhile, the Australian Grand Prix is preparing to move to Adelaide in 2027. As a result, the weekend is shaping up as an unforgettable farewell to one of motorsport’s most spectacular venues.
Phillip Island first hosted the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix in 1989 and has been its home since 1997. It has delivered decades of breathtaking racing, unforgettable victories and some of the most thrilling moments in MotoGP history.
MotoGP title on a knife-edge
This year’s championship battle promises plenty more drama. Just two points separate reigning world champion Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin after a thrilling Indonesian Grand Prix, where the championship lead changed hands twice.
First, Marquez briefly seized the advantage with victory in Saturday’s Sprint. However, Martin reclaimed the top spot with a podium finish on Sunday. In addition, Marco Bezzecchi is firmly in the title hunt after his Indonesian Grand Prix victory. That sets the stage for an electrifying showdown at Phillip Island.
Australian fans will also have their own hero to cheer on. Townsville’s Jack Miller returns for his home Grand Prix aboard the Prima Pramac Yamaha.
10’s MotoGP commentary team
Tara Rushton leads 10’s coverage. Alongside her are former Grand Prix racer and 500cc World Championship runner-up Daryl Beattie, acclaimed motorsport journalist Sam Charlwood and two-time Isle of Man TT winner Cameron Donald.
Together, they will bring viewers expert commentary, analysis, exclusive pit lane interviews and all the atmosphere from one of the biggest weekends on the Australian motorsport calendar.
Adam Cush, Sports Production Director for 10, said the circuit made the event one of the great spectacles in world sport.
