Kayo Sports reveals Mark Skaiffe’s Top 5 Kayo Mountain Moments – The Great Race will take place this weekend on Kayo Sports and Fox Motorsport expert Mark Skaife has unveiled his picks for the biggest and most memorable Bathurst moments over the last six decades.
MARK SKAIFE’S TOP 5 ‘KAYO MOUNTAIN MOMENTS’:
- 1977 Allan Moffat and Colin Bond with the Ford Factory Team famous 1-2 victory.
- 1979 Peter Brock with the Holden Dealer Team A9X Torana winning by 6 laps and broke the lap record on the last lap.
- 1992 Jim Richards crowd reaction to the controversial and famous Nissan GT-R win in atrocious wet conditions.
- 2002 10 years after the Nissan win, Jim Richards and Mark Skaife won in the factory Holden Team Commodore.
- 2014 Jamie Whincup ran out of fuel on the last lap and Chaz Mostert lead for only the length of Conrod Straight to win in one of the classic Bathurst races.
The five-time Supercars champion conquered the Mountain six times during his stellar career and included two of his wins with Jim Richards in his countdown.
Skaife said:
“I’ve chosen these moments because they’ve shaped the legacy of this iconic race, from legendary wins to dramatic finishes. Each of these highlights has played a role in making Bathurst the spectacle it is today. And there’s no better way to experience all the action than on Kayo and Fox Sports. I’m incredibly excited for this year’s Bathurst 1000 – it’s the pinnacle of motorsport in Australia, and there’s nothing quite like the energy and intensity of Mount Panorama.”
Skaife will join Fox Motorsport host Jess Yates tonight through to Thursday in a pop-up preview show of the Bathurst 1000. The pair will unpack the massive week ahead, interview current drivers and look back at some of the best moments from Mount Panorama.
Not only is Fox Sports the best place to watch all four days of racing, available on Kayo Sports and Foxtel, but it will also exclusively showcase the spectacular Bathurst Street Party on Wednesday October 9, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm AEDT.
The street party is headlined by a Supercars ‘Track to Town’ event, where all 26 Supercars entered in this year’s Great Race will make the journey from the iconic Mount Panorama Circuit, arriving at the street party on Russell Street.
