Triple M Racing launches for 2026 Spring Racing Carnival – Triple M is adding horse racing to its live sports coverage, beginning at Flemington’s TAB Turnbull Stakes Day on Saturday, 3 October. The first broadcast starts at 12 pm on 105.1 Triple M Melbourne, with further coverage planned across the 2026 Spring Racing Carnival.
For listeners, this is more than a race call. Triple M says it will take the official call, then build its own trackside programme around conditions, mounting-yard news, expert analysis, interviews and stories from the course. The audio will also stream live and be available on LiSTNR, while coverage expands to Triple M’s metropolitan markets for major carnival days.
The network’s first racing season brings together three-time Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Glen Boss, broadcaster Michael Felgate and racing presenter Caty Price. Boss joins as an expert commentator, Felgate will host live from the track, and Price will report on the field and the atmosphere around it. Triple M says other voices from across its network will take part as the carnival progresses.
Glen Boss joins the Triple M Racing team
Boss rode Makybe Diva to all three of her Melbourne Cup victories, giving the new programme a commentator with direct experience of racing’s biggest Australian stage. His role is to explain what is happening on and off the track, including the build-up that listeners cannot see during an audio broadcast.
“There’s an undeniable electricity before a big race, and I’m looking forward to bringing listeners all the excitement with Triple M,” Boss said. Felgate’s trackside hosting and Price’s reporting are intended to complement the official calls rather than replace them.
The coverage will build towards the Lexus Melbourne Cup on Tuesday, 3 November. Triple M says it will be at Flemington for that day and has further commentary announcements to come. It has not yet detailed every market’s station or start time for the later racedays, so listeners outside Melbourne should check local Triple M listings as those broadcasts approach.

Why Triple M is moving into racing
SCA Managing Director – Audio John Kelly described racing as a natural extension of Triple M’s sports portfolio and its mix of live and on-demand listening. He said the addition also creates opportunities for advertisers and partners around major carnival moments. For TV Central readers, the practical change is another audio option for the feature races, with Triple M’s own analysis wrapped around the official call.
Victoria Racing Club Chief Executive Kylie Rogers welcomed Triple M to Flemington, highlighting the network’s expert voices and the colour of its racedays. Racing Victoria Chief Executive Aaron Morrison said the broadcasts could broaden the reach of feature racedays and give people unable to attend another way to follow the action.
Triple M says its content is carried through 49 stations, including six digital stations, and on LiSTNR. That wider network explains the plan to move beyond the first Melbourne-only broadcast, although specific metro-market details are still to follow.
