Tonight | The Tour de France 2026 on SBS and SBS On Demand: Cycling’s Biggest Race Begins – The world’s most famous cycling race returns as The Tour de France 2026 begins on SBS.
Across 21 dramatic stages, 184 riders from 23 teams will cover 3,333 kilometres through Spain and France. This year’s race also makes history, with the Grand Départ starting as a team time trial through the streets of Barcelona for the first time in 55 years.
The race will test the peloton across the Pyrenees, Massif Central, Vosges, Jura and the Alps. With a total vertical gain of 54,450 metres, the 2026 edition promises another brutal battle for yellow.
Anticipation is high for four-time Tour de France winner Tadej Pogačar, who will chase a historic fifth title. Meanwhile, Australian hopes remain strong, with Jai Hindley, Michael Storer, Ben O’Connor and Luke Durbridge among the riders expected to push for stage success.
SBS will also welcome Australian sprint star Caleb Ewan to its trusted commentary team. He joins Matthew Keenan, David McKenzie, Dr Bridie O’Donnell and Simon Gerrans as SBS brings every turn, climb and sprint to Australian audiences.
