Jo Weston praises Diamonds depth after England win at Glasgow 2026 — Australian Diamond Jo Weston says the depth of the squad helped Australia grind out a strong win over England at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Weston spoke with Seven’s Kate Massey after Australia made it two wins from two in the netball competition, with the Diamonds forced to work through a tougher contest than their opening game.
For Australian viewers, the result keeps the Diamonds moving in the right direction after the early pool matches. It also adds another chapter to one of Commonwealth Games netball’s biggest rivalries.
Weston backs Diamonds depth
Massey asked Weston how she reviewed the performance after Australia had to work harder against England.
I thought it was a pretty good four quarter performance.
Jo Weston
Weston said the Diamonds expected a difficult start, especially in the first half. However, she felt Australia had the variation and squad depth needed to break the game open.
Everyone who was out there did a great job today.

A loud Glasgow crowd
Weston said the Glasgow crowd brought a different feeling to the match, with England supporters closer to home than Australian fans.
However, she said the Australian support was still clear inside the venue.
Our Aussie fans were very loud and proud today.
Jo Weston
A milestone match for the Diamonds
The win came in the Diamonds’ 50th Commonwealth Games match. For Weston, playing at her third Games has brought a fresh kind of enjoyment.
I think it’s just so special how sport can bring so many people together.
Jo Weston
Weston said being part of the broader Team Australia environment had been a highlight, especially while sharing the experience with newer members of the squad.
Malawi next
Australia will now turn its attention to Malawi. Weston said the Diamonds would review and recover before preparing for a different style of opponent.
She said Malawi would be a little more unorthodox than Australia’s first two opponents and expected another tough contest.
