Sellick took silver with a personal best of 1:14.06, while Belando-Nicholson claimed bronze in 1:15.11, also improving from her morning swim.
For Australian viewers, the race delivered one of the most joyful moments of Seven’s early Glasgow coverage. It was also a breakthrough result for two athletes on their debut Australian team.

Seven’s Annie Williams said Sellick had bettered her personal best by a second, while Giaan Rooney highlighted Belando-Nicholson’s improvement from the heats.
