Ratings | Western Derby scores massive audience on Seven – WA commentary team resonates with local fans driving 20% lift
Sunday’s Western Derby has delivered an outstanding audience for the Seven Network, with coverage reaching 443,000 West Australians on Seven and 7plus Sport, the biggest audience for the clash since Round 3 in 2022.
Calling Derby 62 live from the ground, Seven Perth’s WA commentary team played a key role in the broadcast’s strong performance, drawing a total TV audience of 201,000 across WA, including 30,000 on 7plus Sport, a 20% year-on-year audience increase.
Led by 7NEWS Perth Sport Presenter Ryan Daniels and sport broadcasters Mark Readings and Dani Shuey, the lineup featured WA footy legends Ben Cousins, Shaun McManus, Mark LeCras and Michael “Sonny” Walters.
Their on-field experience brought unrivalled insights and depth to Seven’s coverage, driving a 9% year-on-year increase in broadcast audience and 177% lift in BVOD viewing.
Coverage began with the Alinta Energy Pre-Game delivering a total TV audience of 60,000 and strong results for local advertising integrations.
