Kayo Sports and Fox Footy congratulate Ken Hinkley on Tasmania Devils appointment — Kayo Sports and Fox Footy have congratulated Ken Hinkley after his appointment as Head Coach of the Tasmania Devils.
The statement came from Steve Crawley, Managing Director of Fox Sports. It followed confirmation that Hinkley will lead the AFL’s newest club.
For AFL viewers, the move is notable. Hinkley has been part of Fox Footy’s coverage this season. Now, he is moving from television analysis back into coaching.
As a result, the announcement links two parts of the modern AFL landscape: broadcast coverage and club football leadership.
Crawley said Kayo Sports and Fox Footy were thrilled to see Hinkley take on the role. He described the appointment as fitting recognition for one of football’s great minds.
Fox Footy praises Hinkley
Hinkley joined the Fox Footy team this season after his long coaching career. Crawley said he had made a strong move into broadcasting.
According to Crawley, Hinkley brought insight, authenticity and a deep understanding of the game to Fox Footy’s AFL coverage.
He also said Hinkley’s analysis had become a valued part of the coverage. In addition, Crawley praised his ability to build relationships across the Fox Footy team and with the audience.
The comments also point to the depth of Fox Footy’s coaching panel. Its line-up continues to draw on recent AFL senior coaching experience for analysis and match coverage.
Tasmania Devils role
Crawley said Fox Footy was proud to have Hinkley as part of its coaching talent group. That group also includes former coaches John Longmire, Adam Simpson and Nathan Buckley.
He also congratulated Tasmania Devils Chairman Grant O’Brien and CEO Brendon Gale on the announcement.
The appointment places Hinkley at the centre of the next stage for the Tasmania Devils. The club is preparing to enter the national AFL landscape.
