Kayo Sports welcomes 2027 AFL fixture as Kayo Footy era begins – Kayo Sports and Foxtel have welcomed the 2027 Toyota AFL Premiership Season fixture, promising every game live, fewer overlapping timeslots and every match in 4K Ultra HD.

For AFL viewers, the most significant change is the attempt to create a cleaner weekend flow. More standalone games should make it easier to follow multiple clubs live, while Kayo’s strengthened Super Saturday schedule puts several major matches behind its live subscription offering.

The fixture also arrives as Fox Footy prepares to become Kayo Footy in 2027. The rebrand changes the channel identity, but Kayo says the service will retain its mix of live football, analysis, breaking news and weekly magazine programmes.

Every AFL club plays across the first 10 rounds

Every club will play in each of the first 10 rounds. The AFL will then consolidate its bye rounds between rounds 11 and 15, rather than spreading interruptions throughout the opening part of the season.

Kayo has also highlighted the strength of Saturday-night football. Across the first 13 rounds, every Saturday night will feature at least one team that competed in the 2026 finals series.

  • Collingwood will play three consecutive matches exclusively live on Super Saturday from rounds 9 to 11.
  • Hawthorn meets Essendon in Saturday primetime in round 3, with Zach Merrett facing his former club.
  • Toby Greene returns to Engie Stadium in the hoops in round 7.
  • Nick Blakey returns to the SCG with North Melbourne in round 8.
  • Scott Pendlebury faces Collingwood for the first time in round 15, exclusively live in eligible markets.
  • Round 16 brings Carlton, Collingwood, Geelong and Hawthorn together for a major Super Saturday, exclusively live in Victoria.

Fewer AFL clashes and more standalone games

Every match of every round will be available live through Kayo Sports and Foxtel. Kayo says the 2027 fixture features a stronger flow of standalone matches across the weekend, reducing the number of simultaneous games.

Sunday football will also change. Earlier Sunday-afternoon starts and more Sunday-night games across the first 13 rounds are designed to reduce overlaps and give viewers more opportunities to watch complete matches live.

Each year, we work closely with the AFL to bring fans more of what they want, and 2027 delivers exactly that: more opportunity to watch live, fewer clashes between games and a stronger flow of blockbuster match-ups across the rounds.

Every game, every round live on Kayo Sports remains an incredibly valuable offering for footy fans, and our priority is always to give subscribers the best possible access to the game throughout the season.

The Wednesday night opening to Round 1, combined with more standalone viewing opportunities and the return of Super Saturday, gives the 2027 season every chance to start with enormous energy in stadiums and on screens around the country.

The new earlier start times for Sunday afternoon games and the increased number of Sunday night games across the first 13 rounds means a substantial reduction in overlapping games and fans will get to enjoy more moments LIVE.

Beyond live matches, Kayo plans to continue delivering more than 40 hours of fresh AFL coverage each week. The schedule includes AFL 360, On The Couch, Midweek Tackle, First Crack, Bounce and AFL Tonight.

The first 16 rounds include 42 matches between Victorian clubs, eight more than the previous season. They also include 30 clashes between teams that finished inside the 2026 top eight.

Sarah Jones, David King and Sam Edmund will examine the fixture in a special edition of Footy Fixture on Fox at 5pm AEDT on Thursday 29 October. The programme will assess the major scheduling decisions, the biggest wins for each club and the matches likely to define the opening half of the season.
