AFL Finals fever kicks off on Seven – Four epic contests headline week one action

The 2024 AFL Finals Series roars into action on the Seven Network tonight with four blockbuster matches, featuring the game’s biggest and best stars over three epic nights.

One of the most unpredictable Finals Series of recent times will get off to a cracking start tonight when Port Adelaide host Geelong in a qualifying final at the MCG, with Seven’s live and free coverage starting at 7.00pm AEST on Channel 7 and 7mate.

Then, on Friday Night Footy, 7AFL will take viewers live to a 100,000 strong crowd at the MCG, when two of the competition’s most in-form sides – Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs – meet for a do-or-die elimination final, from 7.00pm, live and free on Channel 7 and 7mate.

On Saturday, footy fans will enjoy an epic double-header featuring:

• Sydney Swans and GWS GIANTS in Qualifying Final 1 at the SCG from 2.30pm AEST on Channel 7 and 7mate

• Brisbane Lions host Carlton in Elimination Final 1 at The Gabba from 7.00pm AEST on Channel 7 and 7mate.

Before Saturday’s AFL Finals coverage, fans can also tune into Seven’s VFL Finals coverage when Geelong take on Southport at GMHBA Stadium, from 11.30am live and free on 7mate in Victoria and 7plus nationally.

Football’s #1 commentary team will lead Seven’s Finals coverage, with this weekend’s line-up boasting a group of the game’s greatest finals players ever.

It features Brian Taylor, James Brayshaw, Joel Selwood, Abbey Holmes, Dale Thomas, Luke Hodge, Erin Phillips, Matthew Richardson, Alister Nicholson, Luke Darcy, Jude Bolton, Jason Bennett, Cameron Ling and Campbell Brown.

After Friday night’s do-or-die final, Adam Cooney, Kate McCarthy and Cam Luke will settle in on the Armchair Experts sofa to give their unique take on all the fallout from the match on Channel 7, 7mate and 7plus.

All episodes of Talking Footy, The Front Bar and Armchair Experts will be available for streaming on the AFL Hub on 7plus, along with match previews and reviews, plus interviews, bonus player access and features on demand.

On top of the AFL Finals action, footy fans will also be treated to an AFLW double-header on Sunday afternoon on Seven and 7plus, featuring:
  • Richmond v GWS GIANTS at Swinburne Centre, Sunday 1.00pm AEST on Channel 7, 7mate and 7plus

• North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos v Geelong at Arden Street, Sunday 3.00pm on Channel 7 and 7plus

Footy fans can stream Seven’s weekly AFL Women’s matches live and on demand on 7plus, while fans in NSW, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia can also watch every game involving teams from their home states live and free on Seven and 7plus across every round of the season.

As well as Sunday’s AFLW action, fans can tune into Seven’s coverage of the SANFL and WAFL semi-finals featuring the following matches:

• Sturt v Glenelg at Adelaide Oval, Sunday 12.30pm ACST on Channel 7 (SA only) and 7plus nationally

• Norwood v Central District at Adelaide Oval, Sunday 3.00pm on Channel 7 (SA only) and 7plus nationally

• Peel Thunder v Claremont at Lane Group Stadium, Sunday 2.00pm AWST on Channel 7 (WA only) and 7plus nationally

As we count down to the last Saturday in September, footy fans can also tune in to the 2024 Brownlow Medal and AFL Grand Final, live and free from anywhere, exclusively on 7plus.

Seven’s Brownlow Medal and AFL Grand Final broadcast mark the beginning of a new era on Seven, where Australians can stream Seven’s AFL match coverage live and free on 7plus, for the first time.

To mark the start of the 2024 AFL Finals Series, 7AFL has collaborated with popular football podcast, The Footy with Broden Kelly to produce a series of eight hype clips, one for every competing club, shared on 7AFL social media accounts.
