Analysis for Total TV (21 December, 2022) and Overnight (28 December, 2022) ratings.

TOTAL TV – Total People

Seven News was #1 with 1, 212 000, a rise of 3%. Seven News at 6:30 was #2 with 1,168 000, an upswing of 2%. The Chase Australia was #9 with 692 000, a lift of 2%. Seven’s Cricket: Big Bash League – Melbourne Renegades v Brisbane Heat was #11 with 531 000. As Seven does not have BVOD rights for 7plus, there was no uptick in Total TV. Sunrise was #14 with 423 000, an increase of 4%. Seven News at 4:30 was #22 with 302 000, a boost of 2%. Seven’s Cricket: Big Bash League – Melbourne Renegades v Brisbane Heat Post Game was #25 with 276 000. The Morning Show was #26 with 268 000, growth of 3%. Seven News at 4 was #27 with 258 000, strengthening its overnights by 2%. Sunrise – Early was #28 with 254 000, bolstering its audience by 4%.

Nine News 6:30 was #4 with 866 000, an upsurge of 4%. Nine News was #5 with 854 000, an improvement of 4%. A Current Affair was #8 with 757 000, expanding its viewership by 5%. Hot Seat was #12 with 452 000, an enhancement of 3%. Country Home Rescue with Shaynna Blaze was #13 with 445 000, an uplift of 18%. Nine’s Afternoon News was #17 with 335 000, up 3%. Hot Seat – 5pm was #19 with 314 000, a rise of 3%. Today was #23 with 282 000, an upswing of 7%. Dream Listing Byron Bay was #29 with 245 000, a lift of 9%.

A Dog House Australia repeat was #18 with 330 000, an increase of 6%. The Project 7pm was #20 with 308 000, a boost of 3%. A second repeat of The Dog House Australia was #21 with 307 000, growth of 5%. 10 News First was #24 with 279 000, strengthening its overnights by 2%. The Project 6:30pm was #30 with 227 000, bolstering its audience by 4%.

Mas as Hell Does Hard Quiz was #3 overall but #1 non news with 881 000, an upsurge of 28%. The Yearly with Charlie Pickering 2022 was #6 with 815 000, an improvement of 28%. ABC News was #7 with 775 000, expanding its viewership by 3%. 730 Summer was #10 with 650 000, an enhancement of 6%. An encore from ABC TV Plus of Would I Lie to You at Christmas was #16 with 408 000, an uplift of 15%.

TOTAL TV – 25-54

The Yearly with Charlie Pickering proved popular in this demographic, placing #3 with 239 000, up 52%. Mad as Hell Does Hard Quiz was #4 with 228 000, a rise of 63%. Seven’s Cricket: Big Bash League – Melbourne Renegades v Brisbane Heat was #7 with 176 000, an upswing of 1%.

OVERNIGHT RATINGS


Analysis

Seven News was #1 with almost a clean sweep. Seven won Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth but tied in Sydney. Seven News at 6:30 was #2 with wins in Melbourne Adelaide and Perth. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v South Africa Day 3 Tea was #5 with 604 000. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v South Africa Day 3 Session 2 was #7 with 553 000. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v South Africa Day 3 Session 3 was #8 with 522 000. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v South Africa Day 3 Session 1 was #9 with 460 000. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v South Africa Day 3 Lunch was #11 with 423 000. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v South Africa Day 3 Pre Game had 198 000 viewers. Seven’s Cricket: Big Bash League – Sydney Sixers v Melbourne Renegades was #14 with 299 000.

Nine News was #3 with 679 000 with a tie in Sydney. Nine News 6:30 was #4 with wins in Sydney and Brisbane. The season final of the Incredible Country Home Rescue with Shaynna Blaze was #13 with 302 000. Dream Listing Byron Bay had 170 000 viewers. A repeat of Escape to the Chateau had an audience of 100 000. The second last episode of this season of Family Law had 42 000 viewers.

The Project 6:30pm had 120 000 viewers, but that figure rose to 151 000 for The Project 7pm. The movie, Star Trek: Into Darkness had 160 000 viewers. The movie, The Hunger Games: MockingJay Part 1 had 68 000 viewers.

ABC News was in position #10 for the evening. Hard Quiz: Battle of the Has Beens (repeat) was #15 with 283 000 viewers. Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery repeat was #16 with 279 000. A repeat of Spicks and Specks had 194 000. A repeat of Utopia had 146 000 viewers. An encore from ABC TV Plus of Adam Hills: The Last Leg had 96 000 viewers.
