Total TV retains majority share as viewing continues to evolve – OzTAM has released its Streamscape data for the second quarter of 2026, showing Total TV continues to account for the majority of viewing on Australian TV sets.
The Q2 2026 data covers April to June and tracks how Australians consume video across free-to-air broadcast television, broadcaster video on demand and digital video services.
For TV Central readers, the latest numbers underline the split in Australian viewing habits: broadcast and BVOD remain dominant on the main TV screen, while younger viewers continue to lean heavily toward digital video platforms.
Total TV leads TV set viewing
Total TV, made up of free-to-air broadcast television and BVOD, represented 60.4% of viewing on TV sets among Total People in Q2 2026.
Digital Video, which includes streaming services and online video platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and YouTube, accounted for the remaining 39.6% of TV set viewing.
Within that Total TV figure, broadcast television represented 49.7% of TV set viewing, while BVOD represented 10.7%.
YouTube grows share
OzTAM’s latest Streamscape figures also point to continued movement within digital video. YouTube accounted for 11.3% of Total Video viewing on TV sets, up 0.9 percentage points on the previous quarter.
The chart supplied with the release also lists Netflix at 10.5%, Disney+ at 3.1%, Prime Video at 2.9% and other video at 11.8% of Total Video viewing on TV sets.
Younger viewers shift digital
Viewing behaviour continues to vary sharply by age. Among Australians aged 18 to 39, Digital Video represented 60.7% of viewing on TV sets.
Among people aged 25 to 54, the split was almost even. Total TV accounted for 50.1% of viewing, while Digital Video represented 49.9%.
