OVERNIGHT RATINGS
Analysis
Seven
Seven News was #1 with a clean sweep in all markets. With Peter Overton back in Sydney and the Australian Open always popular in Melbourne, that is a surprising result for Seven to win in those two markets. Seven News at 6:30 was #2 with a clean sweep again. Home and Away was #7, but #1 non news in primetime with 463 000 viewers. Seven’s Cricket: Big Bash League – Melbourne Stars v Brisbane Heat had an audience of 267 000. Seven’s network and primary channel win should not be underestimated, with all predictions on nightly wins by Nine due to the Australian Open for two weeks.
Nine
Nine News 6:30 was #3 with no wins in any market. Nine News was #4 with no wins in any market. It was a new team in Adelaide for Seven with Will and Rosanna and Nine were hit badly in that market – 62 000 v 136 000. The 2023 Australian Open Day 1 – Night had 357 000 viewers. Night Session 2 was on 263 000 and the pre match was on 231 000. Nine will obviously be looking for gains as big stars come out for their matches.
10
The Project 6:30 started with 181 000 but The Project 7pm rose to 283 000. The Bachelors Australia sat just behind the tennis on Nine with 312 000 viewers. The hilarious comedy, Ghosts had a more deserving 122 000 viewers. FBI: Most Wanted returned with new episodes for 87 000.
ABC
ABC News was #5 overall, but #1 in its slot. 730 Summer was #8 with 447 000. Back Roads continued with new episodes on 377 000 for #9. The special, Undercover had 286 000 viewers.
