Analysis for Total TV (31 October, 2022) and Overnight (7 November, 2022) ratings.

TOTAL TV

The Block was #1 overall with a massive 1,783 000 viewers, an uplift of 32%. Nine News was up 4% to 1,029 000, but Nine News 6:30 had a slightly larger audience at 1,062 000, also up 4%. A Current Affair won its timeslot and rose 6% for a total audience of 990 000. Under Investigation with Liz Hayes landed at #16 with 567 000 viewers, a rise of 16%. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup match between Australia and Ireland was up 4% to 470 000. Earlier in the day, Hot Seat 5pm was on 331 000, up 4%, but that figure rose at 5:30pm to 498 000, also up 4%. Tipping Point continues to perform well for Nine, this time on 407 000, up 7%. Nine’s Afternoon News was up 3% to 333 000 viewers,

It is widely known that Love Island Australia is big on 9Now and the expectation that the Total figure would show an uplift of 100% or more was guaranteed. However, Nine might have exceeded those expectations with a rise of 594% to a total audience of 326 000, sending the show overall to #29 for the night.

Seven News was #2 overall with an audience of 1,467 000, up 3% with Seven News at 6:30 also rising 3% to 1,451 000. Home and Away was best non news for Seven with 867 000 viewers, up 22%. Australia’s Got Talent is the quiet achiever at 752 000, a rise of 18%. The US drama 911 really shines in Total TV and sits just below Under Investigation in the rankings with 522 000, up 60%. Earlier, The Chase Australia 5pm was up 3% to 503 000, whilst the 5:30pm half hour was also up 3% but sat at #9 overall for the night at 827 000. Seven News at 4:30pm was up 2% to 334 000. Sunrise gained 4% to 389 000.

Have You Been Paying Attention was best for 10 at #10 overall for the night, up 37% for a total 7 day audience of 803 000. The Traitors moved up 44% for 423 000 viewers. The Project 7pm was up 4% to 389 000 and 10 News First was on 348 000, up 2%.

ABC News was best for the national broadcaster, up 3% to 882 000 viewers to land at #7 for the night. 730 was at #12 for an audience of 733 000, up 5%. Australian Story was right behind at #13 with 672 000, up 16%. The consistency continued with Media Watch at #14 with 661 000, up 26% and Four Corners at #15 with 582 000, up 16%. Planet America was on 310 000, a rise of 12%.

Analysis

Seven News at 6:30 was #1 last night with an audience of 840 000 viewers. It won the slot in Adelaide and Perth. Seven News was #2 at 803 000 and also won Adelaide and Perth, but additionally had a tie in Brisbane. This is Your Life was clearly the right move against the launch of My Mum Your Dad at 581 000 to be #7 for the night. US drama 911 was on 252 000 in the overnights and S.W.A.T was on 108 000. The Latest: Seven News didn’t get away until around 11:20pm with 59 000 viewers. Heartbreak Island Australia had just 27 000 viewers with just 1000 viewers in Brisbane, however this show is screened first on 7plus.

Nine News 6:30 was #3 overall and had wins in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Nine News won in Sydney and Melbourne and tied in Brisbane. A Current Affair won its timeslot with 702 000 viewers. Mixed result for the launch of My Mum Your Dad with 396 000 viewers. Nine is used to higher ratings at 7:30, but its target audience was watching This is Your Life. Nine will be very keen on the Total TV figures next week. Under Investigation with Liz Hayes had 206 000 viewers, which placed it behind 911, despite starting earlier. A repeat of Suburban Gangsters had 109 000 and Nine New Late was watched by 76 000 viewers.

Have You Been Paying Attention had 508 000 viewers – a great result considering the This is Your Life competition. Ghosts continues to perform well at 289 000 viewers. The Project at 6:30pm had an audience of 194 000, but that figure rose to 309 000 at 7pm.
