Livinia Nixon is in the CBD (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country) visiting venues associated with the upcoming Melbourne Writers Festival from May 6 to 12. The Capitol Theatre on Swanston Street is one of the venues with a series of events running throughout the festival, as well as the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre. To end her day, Livinia enjoys lunch and a festival-themed cocktail at The Moat, a cosy Italian restaurant underneath the State Library

Todd Woodbridge is in Lower Johnstone Street, affectionately named “LoJo” by locals, for a retro day out in Abbotsford (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). He checks out Melbourne’s ultra-hip wedding chapel and events space, The Altar Electric, before having a shop at The Collective vintage clothing store.

Then he’s off to Dutch Vinyl, a haven for quality second hand and imported records before winding up at saloon-style bar Lulie Tavern for a game of pool and a beer.

We find Madeline Spark way up north on the Gold Coast checking out the new yourtown prize home on offer in Palm Beach (Bundjalung Country). But first she enjoys a stroll along Tallebudgera Creek and pops into Custard Canteen just off the water’s edge for a custard tart and a coffee. After giving viewers a grand tour of the prize home, she treats herself to a cocktail on the rooftop at the dining precinct, The Collective

And Kris Smith takes a cruisy coastal drive to Mornington (Boonwurrung Country). Starting off with a coastal stroll from Mornington Park, he stops in at Dreamer Cafe for breakfast and a smoothie. Back in town, he stops by the Mornington Bowling Club for a game of barefoot bowls with a view. Heading across the road to The Royal Hotel Mornington, Kris chats with owner Dane Shaw about the history of the Hotel and what’s on the menu.
