The Imperfects expands into full-length video on Apple Podcasts – LiSTNR is taking one of Australia’s most popular podcasts further into video, with The Imperfects now offering full-length episodes through Apple Podcasts.
The expansion gives viewers another way to spend time with hosts Hugh van Cuylenburg, Ryan Shelton and Josh van Cuylenburg. It also reflects a broader shift in podcasting, where programmes built around conversation are increasingly designed to be watched as well as heard.
For LiSTNR, the change is also a commercial move. Full-length video gives advertisers more ways to appear around and within a show that already attracts more than 300,000 listeners each month.
Hamish Blake episode launches the video expansion
The latest episode features Hamish Blake in a discussion about cultivating a beginner’s mindset. It is the first new episode being made available to watch in full on Apple Podcasts under the expanded video offering.
The episode explores the value of embracing discomfort, choosing process over product and finding motivation through small, achievable gains. Blake joins the hosts for a conversation that fits the podcast’s established focus on candid accounts of setbacks, pressure and personal growth.
Viewers will also find selected back-catalogue video interviews on Apple Podcasts. The initial group includes episodes featuring world champion surfer Mick Fanning, model and mental-health advocate Hannah Ferguson, former AFL player Mitch Brown and Matildas star Mary Fowler.
A podcast success story since 2019
The Imperfects launched in 2019 and has built its audience around honest conversations about the experiences that make people imperfectly human. According to LiSTNR, it has remained inside the Top 15 of the Triton Podcast Ranker Australia for 52 consecutive months since April 2022.
Sam Cavanagh, Head of Content – LiSTNR Original Podcasts, said the hosts’ approach had created a particularly strong relationship with their audience.
The Imperfects has built an incredibly strong connection with its audience through honest, vulnerable, and hilarious conversations. Boosting the show’s video offering gives audiences a deeper connection with Hugh, Ryan and Josh, while evolving commercial opportunities for advertisers to engage with its audience.

LiSTNR builds its wider video strategy
The move follows LiSTNR’s technology partnership with Flightcast, announced earlier in 2026. The platform brings LiSTNR’s original podcasts into one publishing system for audio and video, giving creators a single workflow while combining content and audience data.
Cavanagh said the growth of video podcasting was being driven by changing audience habits.
Video is an important growth opportunity for podcasting, allowing us to meet audiences who increasingly want to watch as well as listen, while unlocking a broader video advertising market.
Sam Cavanagh, Head of Content – LiSTNR Original Podcasts
He said The Imperfects was the first step in using the Flightcast partnership to support that strategy.
Our partnership with Flightcast is helping us accelerate this strategy, bringing all our content and audience insights into the one ecosystem. The Imperfects is the first step in that journey, and we’re excited about the opportunities this creates for our shows, our audiences, and our advertising partners.
