Vale Bettina Dalton, acclaimed Australian producer and filmmaker – Screen Producers Australia has paid tribute to acclaimed producer and filmmaker Bettina “Tina” Dalton following her passing.

Dalton was a major figure in Australian natural history and factual production. Her work helped bring Australian stories, landscapes and perspectives to audiences in Australia and around the world.

For TV Central readers, Dalton’s legacy sits across some of the most recognisable areas of Australian screen storytelling, from feature documentaries to factual series made for local and international broadcasters.

A major Australian factual producer

Dalton’s career spanned more than three decades. Her body of work included feature documentaries Every Little Thing, Playing with Sharks and Rachel’s Farm.

She was also a principal and executive producer at WildBear Entertainment, a Screen Producers Australia member company and one of Australia’s largest independent factual studios.

Across her career, Dalton worked in natural history production and documentary filmmaking, with SPA recognising her as both a creative producer and screen business leader.

SPA pays tribute

Screen Producers Australia said Dalton was a valued and engaged member of its community. She contributed to industry events, mentoring programs and wider advocacy for Australian producers.

SPA said Dalton shared her experience with other producers, including through SCREEN FOREVER and the Ones To Watch program.

SPA CEO Matthew Deaner described Dalton as a respected member of the SPA community and a generous supporter of other producers.

“Tina’s contribution to our industry has been immense,” Deaner said.

Deaner also noted her impact as a producer, business leader and advocate for Australian factual and natural history production.

A legacy in Australian screen stories

Dalton’s work placed Australian stories within a broader international screen market. Her credits reflected a commitment to factual storytelling, the natural world and Australian creative perspectives.

SPA extended its sympathies to Dalton’s family, friends, colleagues and the team at WildBear Entertainment.
