SPA Appoints Samantha Turi as Director of Commercial – Screen Producers Australia (SPA) has announced the appointment of Samantha Turi as Director of Commercial, further strengthening the organisation’s capability to support producers navigating increasingly complex commercial, financing and rights environments across the global screen industry.
Samantha joins SPA from Matchbox Pictures, where she most recently served as Director of Business & Legal Affairs. During her 12 years in the Australian television production industry, Samantha has served in a range of senior commercial roles, advising on rights negotiations and deal structuring across premium scripted and unscripted productions.
Prior to Matchbox Pictures, Samantha held business affairs and legal positions at Playmaker Media and FremantleMedia Australia, building extensive experience in contract negotiation, intellectual property frameworks and commercial risk management.
In her new role, Samantha will lead SPA’s work in commercial advocacy and member support, providing strategic guidance on commercial deal-making, regulatory considerations and emerging industry trends. She will work closely with producers, commissioners, financiers and government stakeholders to strengthen commercial outcomes for Australian production businesses.
SPA CEO Matthew Deaner said Samantha’s appointment comes at a pivotal time as producers respond to shifting global commissioning models and increasing market consolidation.
