SPA and Studiocanal Host Special Screening of Kangaroo at NSW Parliament – Screen Producers Australia (SPA), in partnership with STUDIOCANAL, proudly hosted a SPA Screen Stories event yesterday evening at the Parliament of NSW, showcasing the family feature film Kangaroo.
Supported by the Screen NSW – Made in NSW Fund, Screen Territory and Screen Australia, Kangaroo is a heartwarming story filmed on location in NSW and the Northern Territory that highlights the strength of Australian storytelling and local production talent. With Australian films competing for audiences in an increasingly global marketplace, events like this help ensure that local stories remain front and centre.
The screening brought together a diverse audience of screen industry practitioners, including SPA member producers, Screen NSW and members of the NSW Parliament across the political spectrum.
SPA was particularly delighted that Minister for the Arts, The Hon. John Graham attended the event and spoke about the NSW Government’s commitment to supporting the state’s creative industries in his remarks at the event.
Other notable attendees included Legislative Council President The Hon. Ben Franklin MLC, Shadow Minister for the Arts Kevin Anderson MP, Natalie Ward MLC, Gurmesh Singh MP, Anna Watson MP, Cate Faehrmann MLC and Joe McGirr MP, Tim Crakenthorp MP reflecting bipartisan support for the screen industry across the Parliament.
SPA CEO Matthew Deaner said the event highlighted the importance of fostering engagement between the screen industry and Parliamentarians to ensure the industry continues to thrive.
