New SPA Showreel Celebrates Australia’s Producers & Elevates the S.P.A Producer Mark – Today, Screen Producers Australia (SPA) is proud to launch a powerful new showreel spotlighting the vital role producers play in bringing Australian stories to life. The showreel highlights the prestige associated with the S.P.A. Producer Accreditation Mark as a sign of a producer’s professional standing and contribution to the screen industry.

The dynamic reel showcases SPA member productions from the breadth of their membership, celebrating the tireless, behind-the-scenes work of producers and reinforcing their central role in the creative, financial and logistical execution of screen content.

From animation, feature films, drama, children’s content to documentaries and digital series, Australia’s screen producers are the engine room of the industry — shaping ideas, managing teams, and ensuring productions reach their audiences.

“The showreel is a sensational reminder that producers are our storytellers, business leaders, and cultural contributors,”

– said SPA CEO Matthew Deaner.

Following its launch at the Official Welcome at SPA’s annual SCREEN FOREVER conference, the showreel showcases the critical role producers play in the Australian screen sector and educates the audience on the role of the S.P.A. Producer Accreditation Mark as an indicator of excellence.

Behind every great screen story is a driving force that brings creative visions to life—producers.

Producing isn’t just about ideas.

It’s about taking responsibility, raising all the finances and managing the risks to ensure our stories are told—creatively, safely, legally, and ethically.

Screen Producers Australia members go beyond the set.

They source, employ and train thousands of skilled practitioners, contributing to our industry’s growth, development, and sustainability.

They don’t just bring stories to life—they do it with integrity and professionalism.

When you work with a SPA member, you’re working with the best — producers who collaborate to ensure a bright future for Australian stories.

S.P.A. – the mark of excellence for an Australian producer

First launched in 2016, the S.P.A. Producer Accreditation Scheme was developed to formally recognise eligible producers, support professional development, and enhance the visibility of the producer’s role in the creative process.

“The S.P.A. Producer Accreditation Mark recognises these contributions and signals a commitment to professional standards, ethical practice, and accomplishment in screen production,”

– said Mr Deaner.

The mark can be used by accredited producers alongside their screen credits and in promotional materials and is also used by SPA in areas such as award eligibility and credit mediation.

“With this new reel, we’re inviting more screen practitioners to understand the significance of the mark and encourage producers to strive for accreditation and wear the mark with pride,” Deaner added. “It’s a symbol of trust and integrity for commissioners, collaborators, and audiences — and it supports the continued growth of a vibrant and sustainable Australian screen sector.”

SPA supports Australian producers through its Ones To Watch mentoring program, Business Essentials courses for emerging producers, and its Masterclass series for established practitioners.
