Lotterywest breaks another record with $10.8 million grant to Screenwest for 2025-26 – The Government of Western Australia, through Lotterywest, has provided Screenwest with a $10.8 million grant to boost Western Australia’s expanding screen industry, help tell more Western Australian generated stories and support local screen talent and production companies.

Screenwest is pleased to announce the Government of Western Australia through Lotterywest, has provided the organisation with a record grant of $10.8 million for 2025-26.

Building on its $9.2 million grant for 2023-24 and $10.7 million grant for 2024-25, the 2025-26 grant highlights Lotterywest’s commitment to supporting local film and television production across the State.

Local production is a key driver of industry growth and is vital to the sustainability of the Western Australian screen sector. The 2025-26 grant will allow Screenwest to double down on its support of Western Australian screen talent, companies and locally generated story production.

“Thank you to the Government of Western Australia and Lotterywest for their ongoing support of Screenwest. This $10.8 million grant enables us to continue to invest in local screen talent and companies and ensure that Western Australia’s unique stories are told on screens worldwide.”

– said Rikki Lea Bestall, Screenwest CEO.
Comments attributed to Premier Roger Cook:

“My Government is committed to diversifying the economy by sharing local stories and making more things here.

“This significant grant will continue to drive locally made screen projects, develop homegrown talent and enable Western Australian creatives to share original stories on a global stage.

“Thanks to continued investment and support, WA has a thriving film industry with talented actors, crew and technical staff who continue to deliver world class productions.

“For 30 years Lotterywest has played an important role in sharing Western Australian stories, our heritage and culture, which delivers fantastic economic benefits to the WA community.”

Comments attributed to Creative Industries Minister Simone McGurk:

“The Cook Government is fostering a vibrant and creative economy by investing in WA’s screen sector to create local stories using local talent.

“We are committed to creating more job opportunities for our local artists and creatives in the screen industry and with the opening of the Perth Film Studios next year WA is ready to be used as a backdrop and be showcased to the world.”

Since 1995, Screenwest has benefitted from 41 Lotterywest grants totalling more than $171 million.

Lotterywest is the only State Government owned and operated lottery in the country where all available profits are returned to the community.
