Fred Media relaunches Life Down Under FAST channel with major Seven content deal – Fred Media is expanding its footprint in the FAST space, announcing the relaunch of its international channel Life Down Under with the addition of hundreds of hours of programming from the Seven Network.
The revamped channel builds on Life Down Under’s original focus on Australian lifestyle, documentary and factual programming by introducing a broader range of Seven’s most recognisable primetime series spanning reality, home and food genres. New additions include Australia’s Amazing Homes, Extreme Weddings, Zumbo’s Just Desserts and Yummy Mummies.
Seven content drives international growth
Life Down Under originally launched with content produced by Fred Media’s parent company, WTFN, including titles such as The Wild Life of Tim Faulkner, Mega Zoo, Space Invaders and Sydney Harbour Force. The latest expansion signals a significant step forward in the channel’s evolution, with discussions already underway about further international growth.
Richard Henson, Director of Distribution & Content Partnerships at Seven Network, said the partnership highlighted the growing importance of maximising the reach of Australian content.
“Today, more than ever, it is important for television and digital companies to maximise the value of the IP they own and ensure their content is constantly finding new audiences.
Radar has already shown us what is possible with strategically curated and managed digital channels on YouTube, so it was a no-brainer to now collaborate with WTFN’s Fred Media for FAST.
Life Down Under is an established brand with a growing audience so we are excited for Seven Network’s content to be the impetus for its relaunch – and for our shows to become synonymous internationally with so much that is great about the Aussie lifestyle.”
Great Home Ideas finds a new home
The relaunch will also see Life Down Under become a new destination for content from Great Home Ideas, the YouTube channel managed by Fred Media’s sister company, Radar, on behalf of Seven since 2025. Featuring DIY, gardening, food, lifestyle and pet content inspired by Better Homes and Gardens, the channel has more than doubled its revenue and increased subscriber numbers under Radar’s management.
Derek Dyson, WTFN’s Chief Commercial Officer, said the expanded partnership would further strengthen the appeal of Australian programming both locally and overseas.
“Life Down Under has provided international audiences with a unique taste of Australia to date, but the addition of hundreds of hours of Seven Network’s brilliant lifestyle programming allows us to supercharge that offer. Now we can share an unprecedented range of authentically Aussie content with viewers in Europe, as well as domestically – and hopefully soon, further afield.
We are delighted to have extended our partnership with Seven Network yet again. With touch points across linear, FAST and digital distribution, our relationship is a prime example of our Total Distribution strategy in operation, making sure that no relevant IP opportunities are left on the shelf.”
Life Down Under is currently available on Samsung TV, LG, Fetch and Plex in Australia and New Zealand, as well as on LG Channels in seven European territories, including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden.
