Flying Bark and Lightfold team for new original animation project – Flying Bark Productions and Lightfold have announced a collaboration on an unnamed original animation project.
The partnership brings together Sydney-based Flying Bark with Lightfold, the creator-first franchise development studio co-founded by Olan Rogers and Forrester Kane.
For TV Central readers, the announcement is another sign of Australia’s animation sector being linked with international creator-led projects. It also reflects a growing push to build original franchises across series, games, comics and direct fan communities.
A creator-led collaboration
Flying Bark says the partnership is built around shared priorities: sustainable production models, premium animation and stronger connections between artists and audiences.
The studio’s recent and upcoming work includes Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, Tales from Outer Suburbia, Ghostbusters: Night Shift and Zac Power.
Lightfold is focused on building original intellectual property across multiple formats, with a model designed to connect creators and fans earlier in the development process.
What the studios are saying
Flying Bark CEO Barbara Stephen said the company was excited to work with Lightfold and support creator-led premium animation for global audiences.
Rogers said Flying Bark was an ideal partner because of its global reputation, artistic depth and scale, describing the project as part of a mission to give creators a path to bring original shows directly to fans.
Further details on the unnamed project are still to be announced.
