2027 Channel 7 Upfront: Michael Clarke joins 2DayFM Breakfast – Former Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke will join Nath Roye and Emma Chow on Sydney’s 2DayFM Breakfast from Monday 11 January 2027, forming a three-person morning team.
This is an audio announcement from the Seven Media Group upfront, not a move into a Channel 7 television hosting role. The new show gives Sydney listeners Clarke’s perspective beyond cricket while building on the breakfast partnership Roye and Chow established in 2024. Clarke is also due to make regular appearances before his official January start.
Clarke’s playing record includes Ashes success and captaining Australia to a World Cup title. Since retiring, he has worked across radio, television, cricket commentary and podcasts. Raised in Liverpool in Sydney’s southwest, he says he grew up listening to 2DayFM, giving the appointment a personal connection to the city the station serves.

Seven Media Group says Nath and Emma increased the show’s breakfast audience share across four consecutive GfK surveys, reaching 4.9% in Survey 6 of 2026 and growing two share points since the end of 2025. Those figures are based on the station’s cited GfK R360 survey measures for listeners aged ten and over, Monday to Friday from 5.30am to 9am.
Clarke said a regular FM breakfast programme will be a different challenge from his previous broadcast work.
I’m extremely excited to join 2Day. I grew up in the Western Suburbs listening to the station, so to now have the opportunity to be a part of a station I’ve always loved is special.
Michael Clarke, incoming 2DayFM Breakfast co-host
He said he respects what Roye and Chow have built and looks forward to working with them in the studio. Seven is presenting Clarke as a broadcaster, father and Sydney local as well as a former Test captain.
Amanda Lee, Head of Hit Network Metro Content, said the addition had been considered in light of the show’s existing momentum.
Michael is an experienced broadcaster, one of Australia’s most recognisable sporting figures, and someone with a clear point of difference in the market.

Chow said she expected Clarke’s wit and unpredictability to add to the team, while Roye welcomed a fellow Sydney sports fan to the programme. Their comments underline that Seven is selling the combination as a conversation among three contrasting personalities, not simply using a sporting name as a guest attraction.
