Sky News announces 2025 line-up following year of record audience growth – Following a year of record audience growth, Sky News Australia has unveiled its 2025 program line-up offering unmissable live political coverage of the 2025 Federal Election, top-rated opinion shows, plus new documentaries, and new ways to access its news, sport, and weather.

A new smart TV app will soon be available for subscribers to stream their SkyNews.com.au Streaming Subscription on compatible Apple TV, Samsung and LG devices, or other devices which use the Android TV operating system.

Through the new Sky News smart TV app, which complements the existing mobile and tablet streaming app, new and existing customers can stream content across four dedicated channels including Sky News, Sky News Election Channel, Sky News Weather and FOX SPORTS News for $5 per month*.

With the 2025 Federal Election just around the corner, and as Australians get set to decide who will lead the country, Sky News will bring viewers all the big news, interviews, and live coverage of the campaign trail.

As part of Sky News’ ongoing commitment to delivering comprehensive international news and analysis, the team will continue to provide in-depth coverage of key global events, including President-elect Donald Trump’s first 100 days in office.

Join our expert team tomorrow (Tuesday 21 January) from 3.30am AEDT for live coverage as Donald Trump is sworn in as the 47th President of the United States.

The broadcast will be anchored by Peter Stefanovic from Sydney, alongside Sky News Washington Correspondent Annelise Nielsen who will be reporting live from Washington DC, together with Sky News Chief Election Analyst Tom Connell and Sky News Anchor Chris Kenny.

Chris Kenny will also broadcast The Kenny Report live from the United States throughout the week (Monday 20 January – Thursday 24 January) at 5.00pm.

The World According to Rowan Dean returns as a digital-first weekly show with Outsiders host Rowan Dean giving his unique take on the news and issues affecting everybody. The program will be available to stream each Friday on the SkyNews.com.au Streaming Subscription and will also air Fridays at 7.00pm on Sky News, starting 24 January.

Following a series of successful documentaries and special investigations throughout 2024, the Sky News documentary team is set to captivate audiences once again in 2025 with exclusive, in-depth content.

Sky News will air a powerful new documentary about Cheng Lei, the Australian journalist who was detained in China for two years and 11 months. The documentary will offer an intimate look at her harrowing experience, as well as her personal journey during this challenging period. Produced in conjunction with a forthcoming book to be published by HarperCollins, the documentary will shed light on her remarkable story of resilience, survival, and the international efforts for her release.

Sky News Investigative Reporter Jonathan Lea hosts a new documentary Into the Deep:

Australia’s Submarine Gamble premiering in February.

The investigation examines the detail behind AUKUS, the trilateral security partnership between Australia, the UK and the US announced on 15 September 2021. Now, more than three years on, and as work gets underway on Australia’s new fleet of nuclear submarines at an estimated cost of $368 billion, Lea spends time on board one of Australia’s current Collins-class subs and speaks with senior military and political figures from across the AUKUS alliance partners.

Paul Whittaker, Chief Executive Officer at Sky News Australia said:

“After a year of record audience growth across our broadcast and digital platforms, our outstanding line-up of news breaking journalists and opinion makers are back to bring Australians all perspectives on the local and global issues impacting our nation.

“With a Federal Election approaching, 2025 will be a pivotal year and our specialist team of political reporters, anchors and commentators will delve into the policy promises and pitches to provide Australians with comprehensive and trusted analysis.”

In 2024 Sky News ranked as the #1 non-sport and #1 weekday channel on Foxtel, delivering a record audience share across the year, with average audiences up +4% year-on-year.

Regional free-to-air viewers watched Sky News Regional in record numbers, with the linear broadcast channel delivering its highest ever audience share, growing its average audience by +18%.

Sky News digital platforms also achieved a record year, delivering more than two billion video views.

SKY NEWS IN 2025 – AUSTRALIA’S ELECTION CHANNEL

Then, AM Agenda from 9.00am with Laura Jayes sets the day’s agenda with breaking news, in-depth interviews and a critical eye on the stories making headlines across Australia and the globe.

From 11am, stay across the latest developments with sharp analysis and detailed interviews as Chief News Anchor Kieran Gilbert hosts NewsDay Monday-Friday, live from Canberra.
