Australian Idol is back, after a 14 year absence from our screen.
With a hint of nostalgia and a fresh 2023 vibe, live television will return when the Top 12 live performances hit our screens.
As a child it was a dream for Scott Tweedie to host Australian Idol. When he heard that Channel 7 had picked up the rights, he pursued that dream and came out victorious. Scott will co-host the show with Australian Idol alum, Ricki-Lee Coulter.
On today’s podcast, Scott chats about:
- mixing the nostalgia with the new
- why it was time to bring back Idol
- how have we not run out of talent
- the judges
- Harry Connick Jnr playing a serial killer in the movie Copycat (too young to remember!)
- how Australian Idol can help find the next ‘diamond in the rough’
- what he would look for if he was a judge
- what his role will be in terms of co-hosting
- best advice for comforting contestants
- his dream to host Idol
- banter between Kyle Sandilands and Megan Trainor
- are the ‘woeful’ singers genuine or playing a prank
- back stories of some of the contestants
- whether there was any truth that he would be The Bachelor
- Kesha drawing on his bum (!)
- The format of this series of Australian Idol
