Nine CEO acknowledges effort of the Nine Olympics team – Channel 9 CEO Mike Sneesby has expressed his gratitude to the entire Nine team for their outstanding contribution to the broadcast of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

“With five days to go at the Paris Games and the Paralympics to come, I wanted to take the opportunity to acknowledge the massive effort across Nine to deliver the best and broadest coverage of an Olympic Games that Australians have ever seen. Thank you,”

– stated Mr. Sneesby.

The wall-to-wall coverage across 9, 9Now, and Stan has been an incredible feat, achieving over 50% audience shares every night and regularly hitting 60% in key demographics. Highlighting some of the remarkable achievements, Mr. Sneesby noted:

  • Broadcast and Streaming Reach: The combined broadcast and 9Now coverage has reached an average of 10.5 million daily viewers. In the first week of the Games, 9Now recorded the highest weekly BVOD reach of any broadcaster since VOZ commenced in December 2021, reaching over 6 million viewers.
  • Metro Publications and AFR: From engaging daily live blogs and immersive visual storytelling to insightful analysis and captivating imagery, Nine’s Olympic coverage has become the most-read topic across its mastheads, driving a significant increase in subscribers.
  • Radio Coverage: Nine Radio’s round-the-clock coverage from Paris has received unprecedented positive listener feedback, with audio streaming audiences up more than 25% year-on-year, indicating strong listener engagement.
  • Stan Sport: Stan Sport has seen record viewing numbers and subscribers, with Australians flocking to the streaming service. The availability of additional channels from international broadcasters has proven to be a unique and positive differentiator.
The unprecedented support from sponsors and partners has also led to an upward shift in expected revenue. Mr. Sneesby revealed,

“Before the games commenced, I let you know that we had secured $135 million in advertising revenue for the Paris Olympic and Paralympic coverage. That figure has now increased to more than $140 million as our sponsors and advertising partners have embraced Nine’s platforms and coverage.”

As the Paris 2024 Olympic Games continue, Nine’s comprehensive coverage remains accessible on 9.
